2019 PROXY Fall Film Fest: The Last Black Man in San Francisco

The 2019 PROXY Fall Film Fest of outdoor cinema continues on Friday, October 11th at the PROXY Walk-In Theater with:

The Last Black Man in San Francisco

Directed by Joe Talbot, 2019 [R]

The Last Black Man in San Francisco is a poetic and picturesque ode to the title city, to friendship and to the universal urge to find a place to call home.

– Peter Howell, Toronto Star

The city at the heart of Joe Talbot’s new film, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, is depicted with equal parts whimsy and despair.

In “The Last Black Man in San Francisco,” the desire for home is at once existential and literal, a matter of self and safety, being and belonging. Much depends on Jimmie, who waxes and wanes, sometimes rises and then falls in a city that — with this ravishing movie — he insistently stakes a claim on, one indelible image at a time.

Presented by HERE FOR NOW, the FREE, Friday evening film screenings begin at dusk with ‘doors’ opening at 6:00 pm. Film begins at sundown around 7:30pm.

Come early to claim a good spot, enjoy an ice-cold beer from Fort Point Beer Company (all proceeds support outdoor cinema at PROXY!) and wood-fired pizza from Del Popolo.
